Called epigenetics, (above the gene), it is the study of changes in our organism that results from modifying the gene expression rather than alternating the genetic code itself. This new view of the science has transformed the thinking of scientist and thus, those of us who are trying to bio-hack our best health.
This is only a basic overview. The implications stretch over several diseases and even into human and animal reproduction. There is a glutathione and genetics connection to many diseases.
Note: Often times we tend to self medicate when health care cannot provide solutions we are looking for. Boosting the glutathione in your body is even more critical than most disease processes. It can reverse many conditions on its own. If, as an educated consumer you see something here that interests you, it is vital you speak to a doctor experienced with these treatments rather than self medicating.
Most human genetics websites talk about genetics and what they are. This is about what you can do about your genetics.
Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A has a paper on....
Schizophrenia and Genetics
Here is the heading of a paper on this.
Impaired glutathione synthesis in schizophrenia: convergent genetic and functional evidence.
The paper started with...Schizophrenia is a complex multifaceted brain disorder with a genetic component.
It concluded with...Taken together, the study provides genetic and functional evidence that an impaired capacity to synthesize GSH under conditions of oxidative stress is a vulnerability factor for schizophrenia.
N-Acetyl Cysteine (which helps the body make glutathione) for Depressive Symptoms in Bipolar Disorder—A Double-Blind Randomized Placebo-Controlled Trial.
Background
The paper started with...
Treatment-resistant subthreshold depression is a major problem in bipolar disorder. Both depression and bipolar disorder are complicated by glutathione depletion. We hypothesized that treatment with N-acetylcysteine (NAC), a safe, orally bioavailable precursor of glutathione, may improve the depressive component of bipolar disorder.
Conclusions
NAC appears a safe and effective augmentation strategy for depressive symptoms in bipolar disorder.
We know it works. Now, look at the connection to glutathione and how it works with the genes.
A December 2006 paper noted about glutathione synthetase deficiency the following...
Glutathione synthetase deficiency is a disorder that prevents the production glutathione. Glutathione helps prevent damage to cells by neutralizing harmful molecules generated during energy production. Glutathione also helps in processing medications and cancer-causing compounds and building DNA, proteins, and other important cellular components.
Note: Glutathione synthetase deficiency is very rare, affecting only about 70 people worldwide.
The important thing to note is the genetic protection that glutathione provides as mentioned in this paper.
Study links genetic / environmental causes of Parkinson's. This mentions something about....
...upregulation and aggregation of alpha-synuclein. Keep this in mind as you read on.
Just a side note, as if you would not probably know this...but...
The herbicide paraquat causes am upregulation and aggregation of alpha-synuclein in pet lab mice. Safe to say it could affect us as well.
Which leads to a paper a doctor wrote on, of all things, cysteine.
The clinic he works for recommends cysteine.
So why do they recommend using cysteine? Cost is the only fact, cysteine is very cheap. N-acetyl-cysteine, methionine, or SAMe can also be use but they too need to be dosed at (follow package directions).
Note: It would be unsafe to use the dose that this clinic uses with out medical supervision. Similar doses have been associated with heart problems when taking one kind of cysteine. The clinic and dose have purposely been left out.
The clinic found that tyrosine and levodopa deplete the sulfur amino acids, which results in epinephrine depletion. In this cycle, SAMe is also depleted. A leading theory on why dyskinesia occurs is SAMe depletion. With proper use of sulfur amino acids (cysteine), there have been no observed any incidences of dyskinesia when using levodopa for Parkinson’s Disease treatment.
The treatment of Parkinson's disease is basically to keep the system topped off with cysteine. When the sulfur amino acids glutathione levels drop, the bodies is unable to neutralize the neurotoxins that cause Parkinson's Disease. This results in the Parkinson's Disease getting worse in time as continued neurotoxic insult occurs.
A Request of You Dear ReaderIf you know Michael J Fox, please have his people get in touch. This is, while rather unbelievable, an exciting possiblity. If it is this simple, then just maybe there is something we can do to help those who suffer with PD. Additionally, the improved outcomes we are finding with the Water Cures protocol, since it has been found to increase glutathione, make the possibilities even bigger.
So, considering the glutathione connection to genetics, this is in part, a human genetics website. At least as far as GSH helps our genetic health.

The Way to Make More GSH For Free
Glutathione has a high affinity for water. Simply put, if we are dehydrated our bodies may not make as much as they could. Or, what we do make may be less effective.
Usually there is something more than just being dehydrated. Often there is a condition called fluid and electrolyte imbalance, less than bodies needs. There is a simple, easy and inexpensive way to correct this, allowing your body to produce even more GSH.
The Water Cures Protocol really works. Give it a try today.
It is simple, easy, sustainable and affordable (the salt should cost less than $10 a year).
And like GSH, it will help with over 76 different diseases and conditions.
