Generally iron supplements are prescribed if there is iron deficiency anemia. There are other reasons for doctors recommending it.

Generally, iron should be taken on an empty stomach, 1-2 hour before or 2 hours after a meal.

Several drugs can interact with some of the iron formulations. Make sure and tell your doctor what your taking and any vitamins, herbs or other preparations you may be using.

Only use antacids under your doctors supervision.

Avoid taking antibiotics 2 hours before or after taking iron supplements.

Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet or capsule. It should be swallow whole with a full glass of water.

A measuring cup should be used (and not a spoon). Your pharmacist can provide one for you.

Iron liquid preparations can stain your teeth. This is only a temporary effect.

To prevent staining, mix the liquid with water or fruit juice (but not with milk) and drink the mixture through a straw. Baking soda may be used to clean your teeth.

Iron should be stored at room temperature and away from moisture and heat. Avoid allowing it to freeze.

Do not take any other vitamin, mineral or herb that your doctor has not prescribed.

Do not lay down for 30 minutes after taking the iron in any form.

A Better Way

What if there was a better way than the traditional iron nutritional supplement? What if there was a safer way?

There is no clinical studies in the US that prove that this better way exists. However, in the health care field, we are seeing the benefits of boosting glutathione to boost blood counts. In some cases, it works better than EPO to boost blood counts. The subcutaneous injected hormone EPO can cost a few thousand, ten times the cost of boosting your glutathione.

It also works faster than the traditional ways to boost iron.

Additionally, boosting your glutathione has the benefit of helping your immunity operate at peak condition.

Now, add natural iron to your diet and you could even boost your glutathione three times what you would with out the iron.

If this is true, it would be a remarkably better way than using a traditional iron nutritional supplement.
