How Much Water to Drink?

Since glutathione is dependent on your hydration status, the questions is how much water to drink for optimal GSH? If you remember the old seven glasses of water thinking, you should know that there was no science behind it. The seven glasses was purely arbitrary.

Think about it, how could a person of 100-120 lbs (45 - 54 kg) weight need the same amount of water as a person of 300 lbs (136 kg) weight.

A better way to determine the amount of water to drink would be to base it on the body weight.

The Water Per Pound Ratio

For your total daily water consumption, the best ratio is half your body weight in ounces of water for your total daily need.

So if you weigh 150 lbs, you would drink 75 oz of water. If you weigh 300 lbs you would drink 150 oz of water. This is how much you would drink every day. Divide it by 5 or 6 for your individual dose of water.

So an easier way to come up with how much to drink would be 10% your body weight in ounces. Every time yo drink, consume 10% your body weight in ounces and do that at least 5-6 times a day.

Water Plus Electrolytes

in addition to drinking water amounts based on your weight, there is also a need to take in the appropriate amount of electrolytes. The most essential for taking in with water would be raw salt. But not just any old salt.

Although any salt will work, the best will be unprocessed sea salt. This is because it is rich in other minerals in addition to the salt.

How much?

Take 1/8th teaspoon of salt for every 16 oz of water you drink. It is best if you can take a sip of water and then place the salt on your tongue. Allow it to be absorbed by into your mouth. Once dissolved in your mouth, then drink the rest of the water.

How Much Water at a Time?

Generally, every time you drink, it should be 10% your body weight in ounces of water. So if you weigh 150, you would drink about 15 ounces. It would be OK to drink the full 16 ounce bottle. Drink it all at once, do not nurse it. This is two regular size (16.9 oz) bottles that people traditionally find in vending machines

As a rule, do not drink more than 32 oz within 2 hours. Always take the salt in the mouth before drinking the water.
