In other words, it is a switch that turns the gene on and allows the DNA to become RNA, the messenger.
Go back in time to when you were in school learning about cells. Remember the cytoplasm. That is the stuff inside a cell other than the nucleus. Nrf2 is a protein structure that resides in the cytoplasm that acts like a switch.
It is turned on by stress within cells of the body. Not all stress is bad and this switch is set to work when necessary and stay off when not.
