Are you looking to improve your strength? Do you want strength enhancement? There are a lot of recommendations being touted on the web. Rather than giving you the supposedly latest and greatest, consider some scientific studies looking at muscle strength improvement.

Strength Enhancement through Boosting Glutathione

The source of the enhancement is not from a supplement. The increased strength comes from boosting your glutathione. The supplement boosts glutathione which seems to improve muscular performance.

Improvement in Muscular Performance and decrease in tumor necrosis factor level in old age after antioxidant treatment. This is a study from 2003 in the Journal of Molecular Medicine.

This study looked at the age related muscle loss in relation to mortality and a parameter of the aging process.

In addition to aging changes in oxidant/antioxidant balance, this study indicated an association of what is now known as Low CG syndrome.

In a double-blind study, the effects of N-acetylcysteine or NAC on muscle capacity of elderly patients was considered.

N-Acetylcysteine did increase strength in the knee and increased all strength parameters.

The conclusion was that the findings of the study may be used for therapeutic intervention.

Muscle Performance, as reported in...Effect of Supplementation with a Cysteine Donor on Muscular Performance.

The doctors hypothesized that using a whey protein supplement (Immunocal or HMS90) which augments intracellular GSH production could enhance performance.

The study looked at 10 men and 10 women, both pre supplementation and 3 months after supplementation.

Muscular performance was assessed and those getting the whey protein supplement group had a 10 to 15% increase in strength. The placebo group who got casein as a placebo had no increase.

The study concluded that prolonged supplementation with a glutathione augmenting supplement resulted in improved muscle performance.
